This course helps you to become guardian of property of an adult in Ontario. It is a course with LIVE LESSONS with an opportunity to get assistance from an Ontario guardianship lawyer along the way.
Course Curriculum
Lisa Feldstein
I am a health lawyer and the principal lawyer of Lisa Feldstein Law Office Professional Corporation. I help clients create and protect their families. I provide health law advocacy and advice to help you resolve what I know is a stressful, challenging and often scary situation. When I am not busy lawyering, I am teaching health law as an Adjunct Professor at York University, mentoring law students and raising two young kids (alongside my paramedic husband).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will I have to go to court on my own?
Definitely not! The process we will be using to seek guardianship of property does not involve court at all.
If I die, what happens to the guardianship?
You may choose to apply with another person and be co-guardians. Otherwise, another relative could always apply to replace you if you died. And they will be ever so grateful you have a clear plan and organized records so they can transition the guardianship with minimal stress.
How long will this process take?
The course is spread out over 6 weeks to help avoid overwhelm (many of our clients feel overwhelmed at the prospect of guardianship). The goal is that in 6 weeks you will be ready to apply. The guardianship approval process takes months (and we can't control the government's timing), but our goal is to reduce that approval time by ensuring you application is in ideal shape before you submit.
Can I join after May 1, 2022?
Yes, but not by much! The first webinar takes place May 6, 2022 and we don't want you to miss out! The course concludes June 9, 2022. We are not sure when (or if) we will offer this course again.
