Health Lawyer, Lisa Feldstein Law Office
The content of the course was created by Lisa Feldstein, a health lawyer who has focused her practice on family caregivers since 2013 (called to the bar of Ontario in 2011). She has helped hundreds of family caregivers navigate the mental health and legal systems. In addition to Lisa, other members of the team helped to create the website.
Having a loved one with a serious mental illness can be stressful, overwhelming and exhausting. If (or, perhaps more realistically, when) your loved one stops taking their medication because they feel fine, a downward spiral begins. Whether it's irrational anger, violence, or paranoia, it can get pretty bad. You want to speak with the doctor, but you're told they can't talk to you because of "privacy reasons". You want to get your loved one into the hospital to get better, but you're told "we have to wait for someone to get hurt before we can help".
This course was designed to act like a library. Rather than require you to go through the course from start to finish, the lessons are crafted to answer specific questions. We spoke to dozens of family caregivers and learned they want quick access to information. So feel feel to dive into a lesson that addresses where you're at in your caregiving journey.
Courses can be completed whenever you want - day, night, weekday or weekend, from your office, bed, car or a hospital ER. Whenever, wherever, we''re meant to be together.
Try before you buy. Several lessons are free.
We made the Form 1 lesson free because the Form 1 is often the first introduction into the mental system. We want that information to be available to everyone who needs it, free of charge.
Courses were created by Lisa Feldstein, a health lawyer in Ontario who serves family caregivers and has over 10 years of experience.

Once you've enrolled and paid, you'll have access to the course material for as long as you need. So devour it all in one weekend or take things slow. It's your choice! But please note, if too much time has passed it is possible the laws will change and the course will become outdated. We will strive to monitor this but cannot make any guarantees.
Please let us know if you identify any issues so that we can address the situation and make changes to the course.
If you are seeking legal advice, you can book an appointment and we can set up a time to meet. There will be a separate fee for any legal services obtained outside of the course you have purchased.
Signing up for this course does NOT make us your lawyer. If you want to receive legal advice from a lawyer, please contact us and we will enter into a Retainer Agreement that sets out the scope of work and fees.
Yes! As we update this course, you will have full access to all new material.
